Louis Bolk Instituut

The Louis Bolk Institute collaborates with the Amsterdam UMC in this research. It is a non-profit knowledge institute that focuses on sustainable agriculture, nutrition and health by conducting participatory and practice-oriented research. An important theme is Integrative Medicine, a recent movement in Dutch healthcare in which the self-healing capacity and self-management of the patient play a central role. The LBI has extensive experience in conducting research in the healthcare sector and supports the Amsterdam UMC.
Some examples of research
In the past, the LBI has conducted research into the effect of implementing probiotics in elderly care on antibiotic-associated diarrhea (BMC Gasteroenterology 2020). In addition, research has been conducted into the effects of mindfulness training on stress, self-compassion and self-reflection in general practitioners (BJGP 2018). The LBI has also conducted a mapping study into the supply of complementary care in the Netherlands (EUJIM 2019).

Platform for Citizen Science around Health

The network consists of 13 affiliated communities representing over 30,000 people. All members of these communities are invited to participate in the research by ZelfOnderzoek Netwerk Nederland (ZONN). This means they can complete the questionnaires at the beginning and end of the research and email them to the Louis Bolk Institute, which organizes the data. In this way, we collect additional data on participants’ experiences and the improvements achieved within this group.

ZONN is a platform for citizen science focused on health. It highlights the self-research initiatives related to health in the Netherlands and provides support to participating communities to help them advance. ZONN aims to collaborate with its communities to develop a comprehensive toolbox for individual citizens looking to strengthen their own health research.

The ZONN communities have been working together for years. They connect by exchanging experiences, observations, findings, and data related to health. Together, they draw on extensive experience from projects that have provided valuable lessons about the functioning of healthcare and health research. In early 2023, the communities joined forces to establish ZelfOnderzoek Netwerk Nederland, the platform for citizen science in health.

Experience the World of Plants
Join us on a Koppert Cress tour through a global landscape where gastronomy and horticulture meet. A quest for combinations of flavours and to satisfy enthusiasts with the wonders that nature has to offer us. We also believe that healthy and tasty food can make an important contribution to people’s health. That is why we also want to inspire employers to offer tasty and healthy meals to all their employees. We also make a strong effort to ensure that the costs of healthy food for employees are fully deductible as costs for employers. This is not yet the case in the Netherlands and we are committed to this.

Koppert Cress is constantly searching for natural, innovative ingredients that chefs can use to intensify the taste, aroma and presentation of their dishes. Products that meet the increasingly stringent requirements of restaurants worldwide. Cresses are freshly sprouted plants of 100% natural, aromatic plants. These plants offer a freshness and intensity in taste and aroma that is only found in young plants.

Triodos Foundation

Join our mission
Since 1971, Triodos Foundation has helped people to deal with money consciously and stimulated new developments. Donations play an important role in this. This ‘free money’ is perfect for new and important projects that help society, even if the results cannot always be expressed in money. Will you help?

We invest in the following areas of focus:

Food & Health
A healthy agricultural system produces food that is good for nature and people. We stimulate research and production of local, organic and seasonal food. In addition, we support education and knowledge sharing about the impact of food on our health, so that consumers can more easily choose healthy food.

Nature & biodiversity
Feel connected to nature and help us protect it
Every ecosystem must be in balance. That starts with biodiversity and healthy soil. We support ideas and projects that fight for the rights of nature, prevent further damage and protect our soil. With your donation, we will work together to create a healthy living environment for insects and soil life, which will restore the balance of the ecosystem.

Agriculture
To reconnect with nature, we need to produce food with nature. We support projects that make affordable agricultural land possible, ensure a fair price and reconnect the farmer with local citizens and nature. With your support, we work towards an ecologically, socially and economically strong agricultural system.

The Elements

The Body & Mind Vitality program, which is used as an intervention program during the research, was developed by The Elements and is continuously further developed based on our practical experiences. We also contribute as a sponsor to the costs of the research program.

The Elements mission is to support people to activate their self-healing capacity and increase their natural resistance, in order to improve their own health and vitality. The online Body & Mind Vitaal program is based on the following pillars: awareness, relaxation, inspiration and action. It is an integral program that offers participants structure and support.

We want to inspire and help as many people as possible to take back control of their health and find their vitality. As a result, their energy and health will increase and they will be able to experience more pleasure in their daily life and work. That is why we now want to give the whole of the Netherlands the opportunity to participate for free until the end of April 2025, so that you can experience for yourself what this program means for you.

And we also want to inspire employers to actively support their employees. With our Body & Mind Vitaal program we are very happy to help companies and organizations to offer their employees practical and effective support throughout the year.

Jos Derksen - Ademwerkspecialist

My name is Jos Derksen and I am passionate about the human body, how it functions and what you can do with it as a person. In my opinion, breathing interventions are the fastest route to more relaxation, energy and peace in your thoughts. Anyone can learn these techniques within 5 minutes. In addition, I use body-oriented coaching to sustainably change your perception of stress. So that you can go through your working and private life in a relaxed way. In my practice I also help people to recover quickly and sustainably from a burnout through mental and body-oriented coaching.

In the past, as a teacher, coach and manager, I encountered a lot of work stress on the work floor. And I see that every person reacts differently to stress. And with that, you have a choice in how you react to stress. For this, you need basic knowledge about your biology, physiology and the right regulation techniques. I am happy to teach you that and it makes me happy when I see that it helps you.

RBCZ

The Register of Complementary Care Professionals is a public quality register in the Netherlands with approximately 9,000 therapists who have been trained at least at HBO level. They must meet strict quality requirements, so that a client is assured of good care in a safe care environment.

Providing care that is accessible to everyone, that is what RBCZ is all about. We help you find complementary care that really suits you and meets your wishes and needs. With our platform, we stand for qualitative and professional care, where you are free to choose what you need. Because our mission is “free and accessible healthcare, where quality of life and getting better are central, with sincere attention for the client”.

All RBCZ-registered therapists work holistically, which means that they see the person (body and mind) as one whole and treat disturbances occurring in the psyche or body from that perspective. The therapist takes ample time to search for the cause of the client’s problem together with the client.

RBCZ wants to inspire and support employers to reduce absenteeism and absenteeism costs by using complementary care. It is expected that the chance of recidivism will be significantly reduced, because this approach approaches the ‘source’ of the disruption and does not treat symptoms.

The Complementary Care Choice Aid can be used in combination with the RBCZ website as an aid in finding a suitable therapy and an RBCZ-registered therapist of your choice in your own region.

Institute massage for cancer patients

The Massage for Cancer Institute focuses on promoting quality of life for people living with cancer. Our mission is to make massage accessible to everyone who has or has had cancer.

The institute does this by:

  • training massage therapists and other healthcare providers in the specialization of massage for cancer according to the international guidelines of the Society for Oncology Massage;
  • to promote massage as a complementary support for cancer;
  • facilitating the quality register Network Massage for Cancer.

The Institute has now trained many massage therapists in giving responsible, optimally attuned massages to people with cancer. Touching with attention is a common thread throughout the training program. The Institute maintains regular contact with international colleagues in the US, Australia, Scotland and Belgium to discuss the latest developments.

In addition, the national quality register Network Massage for Cancer has been established. Masseurs and massage therapists who have completed the specialization training can become members of this quality network. The Network Massage for Cancer is also included in the Referral Guide Cancer and Kanker.nl.
